Overview.

Nahmad Projects embarked on an ambitious exhibition, NIGHT. Max Ernst and Yves Tanguy with Urs Fischer, which required a complete gallery transformation. FLIP. was commissioned to deliver and install 400 square meters of custom-designed wallpaper across the gallery space. Over a two-week period, we managed the  surveying, print production, and installation to create a cohesive and visually immersive environment that aligned perfectly with the exhibition’s surreal themes.

Surveying: Understanding the Space.

Prior to production, our team conducted a meticulous survey of the gallery. This critical step ensured that the wallpaper design would integrate seamlessly with the unique architecture of the space. Our survey process included:

  • Exacting measurements: We took precise dimensions of every surface to ensure that the wallpaper panels  would  flawlessly around corners, doorways, and other features of the gallery.

  • Environmental consideration: Lighting and wall textures were assessed to ensure the prints would maintain their vibrancy and visual impact under various lighting conditions.

  • Collaborative planning: We maintained close dialogue with Nahmad Projects’ curators and designers to refine the placement of the wallpaper, ensuring that every visual element supported the exhibition’s artistic vision.

Print Production: Precision and Detail.

Once the site survey was complete, our team moved to the production phase, focusing on the intricate print work needed to bring the artwork to life. Given the scale and artistic complexity of the designs, precision was paramount.

  • Bespoke wallpaper printing: High-resolution printing technology was used to produce large-scale wallpaper  panels, capturing the surrealist and detailed nature of the featured artists. Each panel was carefully calibrated  for colour accuracy and consistency.

  • Custom colour matching: To maintain artistic integrity, we performed meticulous colour matching, ensuring that each wallpaper panel was perfectly aligned with the original designs and presented a seamless visual experience across the gallery’s vast surfaces.

The Result: A Transformed Gallery Experience.

The installation of 400sqm of bespoke wallpaper for Nahmad Projects’ exhibition was a resounding success.  The gallery was transformed into a visually immersive space that captivated visitors from the moment they entered. The surreal and detailed artwork, paired with seamless installation, created a cohesive narrative that  enhanced the exhibition’s overall impact.

FLIP. is proud to have played a significant role in bringing this ambitious artistic vision to life, delivering both on time and to the highest standard of quality.

“FLIP. exceeded our expectations in transforming our gallery space for the ‘NIGHT’ exhibition. Their precision and dedication were evident in every aspect of the process, from the initial site survey to the flawless wallpaper installation. The finished result was nothing short of spectacular.”
