Print Case Study:  London Borough of Culture Graphics at Brent Civic Centre

Flip Creative Client: Brent Civic Centre

Project: Celebration of London Borough of Culture Window Graphics

Services Provided: Surveying, Printing, Cutting, and Installation of Window Graphics Using Scaffold Tower

Project Overview

To celebrate Brent’s designation as the London Borough of Culture, Flip was tasked with designing, printing, and  installing bespoke window graphics for the Brent Civic Centre. This high-visibility project was essential in  promoting the cultural identity of the borough, and required expert planning and execution. We were responsible  for managing the entire process from survey through to installation within a tight two-week timeframe. The project  presented a unique challenge due to the building’s architectural scale, requiring us to use a scaffold tower for safe  and effcient installation.

Surveying: Precision for Large-Scale Graphics

The  rest step of the project was conducting a detailed survey of the Brent Civic Centre windows to ensure the  graphics would  fit perfectly across the expansive glass surfaces.

• Accurate Measurements: We meticulously measured the large window panels, taking into account structural  nuances and elevation changes across the Civic Centre’s façade to ensure a precise fit.

• Safety Considerations: Due to the height and complexity of the building, we also factored in the need for  scaffold towers to safely reach and apply the large-scale graphics, ensuring both safety and efficiency during  installation.

• Collaborative Planning: We worked closely with the Brent Council’s creative team, aligning the graphic design  with the architectural style of the Civic Centre and ensuring it reflected the vibrancy and diversity of Brent as  the London Borough of Culture.

Design and Printing: High-Impact Visuals

Once the survey was complete, we moved into the design and printing phases. The artwork, which celebrated  Brent’s cultural heritage, was produced using advanced print and cut techniques.

• Print and Cut Technology: We utilised high-resolution print and cut technology to produce intricate designs  that featured vivid colours and sharp detail. The precision cut ensured that the graphics  fit perfectly within the  unique structure of the Civic Centre’s windows.

• Large Format Printing: The sheer scale of the window panels required large format printing capabilities. Each  graphic was printed on durable, weather-resistant vinyl to withstand outdoor conditions while maintaining  visual integrity.

• Consistent Branding: We made sure the designs accurately represented the London Borough of Culture  branding and were installed in a way that could be appreciated from both close-up and far away.

Installation: Expert Execution with Scaffold Towers

The  final stage was the installation, which needed to be completed efficiently and safely given the height of the  windows and the complexity of the design.

• Use of Scaffold Towers: To reach the highest sections of the Civic Centre’s windows, we assembled sca old  towers on-site. Our experienced installation team worked at height to apply the graphics with precision,  ensuring no air bubbles, misalignments, or imperfections.

• Attention to Detail: Despite the scale of the project, we ensured that every element, from the alignment of  individual panels to the overall visual impact, was  awless. The vibrant design required precise placement to  bring out its full artistic and cultural value.

• Seamless Installation: The graphics were applied smoothly across all windows, resulting in a clean and polished  look that ampli ed the celebration of Brent’s cultural identity. We ensured minimal disruption to the Civic  Centre’s daily operations by working e ciently and within the scheduled timeline.
